Botanical Plant Designs

At the end of last month, during the March Meet the Maker challenge, I introduced my new Botanical House Plant designs. I think it’s time I created a blog post especially for them.

Nature definitely has a calming effect on me. One of my favourite ways to relax is a walk outside just soaking in all the sights, sounds and colours. Whenever I’m on holiday, or have a day to relax, I like to seek out a garden. I was lucky to escape to Cornwall last Autumn, in between the national lockdowns. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan have been on my ‘to do’ list for so long. Another surprise hidden gem was the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, just stunning. It was amazing to visit these places whilst admission numbers were restricted. I took so many photos and these most certainly inspired my new designs.

Like many I’m sure, I’ve become a little obsessed with houseplants over the last few years. So much so that I’ve created a little botanical collection including just some of my favourites. Painting them has been so therapeutic. When you take a detailed look at individual leaves, they really are amazing. I especially enjoy recreating the leaves using simple geometric patterns.

My botanical house plant designs are now available in my Folksy shop as coasters or mini plates, both individually or you can mix and match to make up your own set. The possibilities are endless. If you have a favourite plant that you would like me to recreate do not hesitate to get in touch.
